A Poochon (AKA Bichpoo or Bichon Poodle mix) is a cross between a Bichon Frisé and a Poodle (Miniature). They’re popular because they combine many of the best traits of both breeds. Here are some of their attributes:
- Hypoallergenic coat – Their curly, low-shedding fur makes them more suitable for people with allergies compared to many other breeds.
- Affectionate and loyal – They tend to form strong bonds with their families and love being around people.
- Playful and fun-loving – Energetic and curious, Poochons are great companions for families with children or active individuals.
- Smart and trainable – With Poodle genes, they pick up commands quickly and enjoy mental stimulation.
- Friendly with other pets – They usually get along well with other dogs and household animals if socialized early.
- Good apartment dogs – Their small to medium size and adaptability make them a good fit for apartment living.
- Alert and attentive – They make good watchdogs, often barking to alert owners of strangers or unusual noises.
- Long lifespan – Often living 12–16 years, they can be lifelong companions.
- Low doggy odor – Their coat tends to stay fresher-smelling than many other breeds.
- Great for first-time owners – Their even temperament and eagerness to please make them easier to handle than some breeds.
- Expected adult weight: 15-16lbs.
